• A Day in the Valley - A guide to sampling the best the Swan Valley has to offer

    Jun 09, 2023

Situated in leafy, green South Guildford overlooking the banks of the Helena River, Rosehill Waters offers a lifestyle like no other.

Living here puts you at the gateway to the Swan Valley, where you’ll be minutes from the natural beauty, exquisite culinary experiences and near-endless array of activities that make the Swan Valley such a popular destination.

With that in mind, we set out to experience the perfect Swan Valley day trip, so that we could share it with you and show you the very best of what the Swan Valley has to offer.

Start your day the right way at Yahava KoffeeWorks

With a big day of activities ahead of us, it was important for us to fuel up, so we pulled in off Swan Road for the best coffee in the region. Yahava koffeeWorks offer coffee blends from all over the world, with up to three options in their grinders on any day.

They also have a range of delicious breakfasts which we sampled to energise us for the  big day ahead.

Get up close with iconic Australian wildlife

Venturing on, it was time to find a destination for the kids and we soon arrived at Caversham Wildlife Park in the Swan Valley. This provided the perfect opportunity to meet some of Australia's most iconic animals, including kangaroos, koalas, and wombats. The kids got a photo, looked at camels and we even nipped in briefly to visit Molly’s Farm. We spent the morning here enjoying the attractions and getting to know the diversity of wildlife.

Another option could be the Swan Valley Cuddly Animal Farm, with their petting zoo and pony rides, plus the opportunity to feed lambs & guinea pigs and taking a spin around the farm on the tractor-train.

Sample your way through award-winning wines

A day in the Swan Valley simply isn’t complete unless you taste your way through its award-winning wine, with 40 world-class wineries to choose from.

We decided to sneak a few tastings of our own by sampling some of the region's most famous drops at the iconic Mandoon Estate winery.

The passionate staff at their Cellar Door explained Mandoon’s unique approach to winemaking while we sipped a showcase of their varietals from the Swan Valley, Margaret River and Greater Perth area.

While there we also took advantage of their guided brewery tour that gave a behind-the-scenes look at their German-built Kasper Schultz brewhouse. We learnt all about the process behind making their exceptional craft beers at Homestead Brewery, and it even included (for my partner) a tasting paddle of 5 Homestead beers.
